Babysitter Arrested for Assault

Brentwood - County Attorney Jim Reams announced today Elizabeth L. Torrey of 101 Douglas Drive, Candia, (DOB 10/10/1983) was arrested on June 18th without incident at her home in Candia. She was charged with one count of First Degree Assault on a baby, 8 months old, who suffered a brain injury on June 9th. Torrey was the baby’s child care provider. The baby is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Bail was set at $500 cash and she was ordered to surrender her passport and have no contact with the victim or his family.

The case is being investigated by Candia Police Department, Deerfield Police Department and DCYF.

Next court date is August 4, 2010 at 8:15 am at the Auburn District Court.
