Reams creates “Second Chance” program

Brentwood -        County Attorney Jim Reams announced today his creation of a Second Chance program in Rockingham County.  “The Second Chance program is to allow a first time non-violent offender to earn their way back to respect through restitution to the victim and community service to repay the community.   After completion of supervised conditions, such as having a job or staying in school, mandatory drug and alcohol testing and repaying their debt to society, the offender can avoid a conviction”, said Reams.  “We should offer any youthful offender willing to do the work, the opportunity to avoid a criminal conviction", continued Reams.
