Brentwood -County Attorney Jim Reams announced that on Friday, May 7th, a Rockingham County Jury returned 12 guilty verdicts for Falsifying Physical Evidence after two hours of deliberation against Kristin K. Ruggiero, (DOB 11-3-75) of 13 Pinewoods Road, East Kingston, NH. Ruggiero had “spoofed” telephone calls and other messages claiming they came from her ex-husband, who was originally convicted of charges relating to the “spoofed” calls.
Judge Kenneth McHugh denied Ruggiero bail after calling her a flight risk and a “pathological liar”. A Pre-Sentence Investigation was ordered and a July 1 sentencing date was set by McHugh.
The trial required the state to bring 4 wireless carriers, a airline and rental car company to Rockingham to prove the case.
“This should serve as a warning to individuals not to try to trick the criminal justice system by manufacturing evidence. Police Chief Reid Simpson from a small department became suspicious of the evidence provided by the Defendant and was able to dig out all of the details of the ‘spoofing’ and put this case together for prosecution. I am proud of law enforcement in Rockingham County, Chief Simpson and my prosecutors, Jerome Blanchard and Geoff Ward for the tenacious investigation and preparation for this trial”, said Reams.
Each charge carries a maximum sentence of 3 ˝ to 7 years in prison and a $1,000.00 fine.
