MONTOUR CONVICTED ON NUMEROUS COUNTS OF SEX ASSAULT AFTER A RETRIAL

 

Brentwood -        County Attorney Jim Reams announced today that a Rockingham County jury has convicted Leonard Montour, (DOB 01/26/73) of 696 Hevey Street, Manchester, NH on two counts of Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault, four counts of Felonious Sexual Assault and two counts of Sexual Assault.  The above charges stem from incidents that occurred in Auburn, Manchester, Litchfield and Hooksett, NH.  Rockingham County, Merrimack County, as well as the Hillsborough County charges were all consolidated for trial in Rockingham County.   The defendant faces up to 10-20 yrs in prison on each Aggravated Felonious Sexual Assault, 3 ˝  – 7 years on each Felonious Sexual Assault and one year each on the Sexual Assault’s.

 

Montour is currently being held without bail pending his sentencing and the completion of a Pre-sentence Investigation by the Department of Corrections.

The victim in this case was 14 at the time the assaults started and was the defendant’s babysitter.  The assaults started in the summer of 2005 and continued through the holidays of 2006-2007. 

Leonard Montour faced his first trial in June of 2008, however, a mistrial was declared after the jury could not come to a unanimous verdict on any of the charges.

 

“I am grateful that the jury was able to reach a verdict. This will soon allow the victim to begin to put this nightmare behind her. I want to thank Assistant County Attorney Jerome Blanchard and the law enforcement agencies that put this case together”, said Reams.
