Markham-Costello sentenced to prison for perjury

Brentwood - County Attorney Jim Reams announced today that the N.H. Superior Court Judge Tina L. Nadeau sentenced Kathleen Markham-Costello (DOB 9/30/1969) of 513 Patten Hill Road, Candia to 1 ˝ to 3 years in the N.H., State Prison for providing perjured testimony in the trial of her husband, Kurt Costello’s trial for Burglary on August 7, 2007.  Markham-Costello lied about hiding her husband in the trunk of her car to avoid police apprehension of him, in spite of pleading guilty to the charge in Rockingham Superior Court on May 14, 2007.

“Perjured testimony strikes at the heart of the truth seeking process of a trial and destroys the entire system of justice that we have built in this nation. In addition, a prison sentence is justified because she has been given numerous breaks by the criminal justice system and has not learned any lessons from those opportunities”, said Reams.
