Guilty Verdict in Drug Death

Brentwood -  County Attorney Jim Reams announced that a Rockingham Jury today convicted Anthony D’Amelio (DOB 10/24/43) of 20 Cove Road, East Kingston, of the crime of Dispensing a Controlled Drug with Death Resulting, which caries a penalty of up to life in prison.  D’Amelio sold Oxycodone to Ryan Scammon-Rawson that killed him during the early morning hours of April 15, 2006.

A couple of weeks ago, another Rockingham Jury found Dante C. Silva, (DOB 9/14/84) of 48 Highland Street, Newton, guilty of Dispensing a Controlled Drug with Death Resulting for the death of Caitlin Brady.  On March 15, 2006, Caitlin Brady of Kingston, NH, died from the toxic effects of Heroin.

"We hope that this verdict and the Silva verdict send the message that drugs can kill and that we are holding those that provide drugs responsible for the destruction that they cause", said Reams.

Neither case has been scheduled for sentencing yet.

D’Amelio has two additional drug sale Indictments pending in the Rockingham Superior Court and are currently being rescheduled for trial.  An Indictment is only an accusation and the Defendant is legally presumed innocent until conviction.
